Boys Basketball

Despite starting late and missing two weeks of practice due to Covid, The Winslow Township High School’s Boys Basketball Team left some indelible marks on its season. Every practice session was utilized to its fullest extent to advance team academics and skills. Off the court, they practiced both on being good men of character, building work ethics and winner mentality. On court, they were models of hard work, toughness and determination. The team was led by their coaches, Mr. Ingram, Mr. Mark Draft, Mr. Greg Norman, and Nasir Fields. These staff members were all part of the basketball program when Winslow won its first two back-to-back South Jersey Championships and made an appearance at the state championships. The experience these staff members brought to practice and games played a huge part in helping the team prepare for games with Covid restrictions and led them to a season overall score of three and seven. Head Coach Ingram defined his team as such: “Our team showed the toughness and resilience it takes to be a championship team. Everyone on the team contributed in a positive way.”
The freshman team was able to have a winning season, and some players, thanks to their hard work, were able to play on the starting lineup in games. Freshman player, Gavin Brizeus, shared one of his proud moments: “A milestone I hit was that I started in the last game of our season. I really had to work hard in practice to earn that spot.” Coach Ingram expressed his hope by saying “We definitely grew as a team and I believe we are headed in the right direction. We beat Washington Township by 11 in the schools first ever quadruple overtime game!!!!” Ultimately, the season ended with the team having played a number of games and holding much promise for next year and season.
