Girls Track

Although it was an unconventional start to the season, the second oldest sport in the world still had representation this year at Winslow Township High School. The girls track team consisted of several students, including three seniors:  Princess Hayes, Olivia Wright and Shevell Higgs.  As captains during this last year with the high school team, Olivia Wright and Shevell Higgs helped and supported the others along with their coach Shawnnika Brown.

Considering all the limitations and stresses placed on the team,  each girl deserves praise.  First the season was shortened to seven meets and instead of starting in December as in years past, it began in February. But that doesn’t mean it still wasn’t a good season. The whole team managed to beat or make a new personal record as a group, which is no easy feat. Trackteam member Sarai Moore  detailed it as “ I feel like our season was pretty good. I wish it was longer but with the meets we had, the whole team did really good.”  Considering the challenges, each girl gave her best self this season and collectively, they still managed to put their best foot forward, literally and figuratively!
