Don’t have anything to watch for the Christmas Season? Well knock off your socks, get a warm beverage and a cozy blanket because I’ve got the movie for you!
For years, “Home Alone” has been regarded as one of the best Christmas films ever made. I mean, what’s better than watching a mischievous eight year old fight two robbers off whilst being left in the snowy town of Winnetka, Illinois? Home Alone is one of the most watched holiday movies. Released in 1990, Home Alone has been a hot topic for December, never failing to gain an audience as the weather gets chillier. Directed by Chris Columbus, this movie is definitely one of a kind. Still not convinced to watch it? Let’s see if I can change your mind.
First off, “Home Alone” is a family friendly and comedic movie. As mentioned earlier, it revolves around an irritated 8 year old, Kevin McCalister who has been forgotten by his family and left all alone at home as his family spends their Christmas holidays in France. As if it can’t get any worse, two robbers, known as The Wet Bandits, want to rob his family’s house. Kevin must defend his house and use various methods to stop the brigands from breaking in and stealing his family’s riches.
Additionally, the film has a noticeable cast. The cast features many recognizable actors such as Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’hara, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern. Fun fact, Kieran Culkin, Macaulay’s brother, played as one of his cousins in Home Alone 1 and 2.
Many also say “Home Alone” resonates with them as it shows them to appreciate their family members more often. Furthermore, others can relate to young Kevin for wanting his alone time or his admirable skill to keep calm and deal with scary situations. Either way, there’s something for everyone when watching this movie. It’s an enjoyable and heartwarming film and I really hope this article helped change your mind and you have decided to give “Home Alone” a try!
If you enjoy this movie as much as I do and need something else very holiday-ish and comfy to watch, you should check out Elf and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. If you want something Home Alone related, you should definitely watch the sequel, Home Alone: Lost in New York. It’s very entertaining and some could say it’s better than the original! Both are Christmas movies to enjoy with friends and family-or maybe alone!
