I recently interviewed an amazing artist here at our school, Alyvia DiFiore, and I asked her a couple of questions relating to her art to learn more about how she creates it, how long she’s been making art, and what she likes doing outside of her artistic endeavors.
Q: Do you think that drawing traditional or digital art is better?
A: “I say both have their pros and cons, I like using both of them.”
Q: What are your favorite programs to use when drawing digitally, and what are your favorite supplies to use when drawing traditional art?
A: “The main programs I use are Procreate, Firealpaca, ibisPaint X, MS Paint from time to time. I do like using color pencils, also copic pens, markers, and pencils.”
Q: Do your other interests influence your art and how?
A: “A lot of the time they do, it influences my style and what I draw.”
Q: What is your favorite part when creating something?
A: “I do like detailing, especially with digital, and also in traditional art a little bit like adding small characteristics.”
Q: How long have you been an artist?
A: “I’d say about 9-10 years, ever since I could pick up a pencil.”
Q: If you could sit down with any artist (actor, actress, artist, singer, etc.) whether that be past or present, who would you like to talk to?
A: “I would like to talk to Avril Lavigne, she has been my favorite singer for quite some time. I’d really like to talk to her because her music is really cool and enjoyable.”
Q: How long does it usually take for you to make something, either traditional or digital?
A: “Both traditional and digital, a quick sketch might take me 10 minutes, a full piece will probably take me 30 minutes.”
Q: What is the most important tool in making art, in your opinion?
A: “For traditional, I’d say a pencil or color pencils, also copic pens. For digital the undo button and the color picker.”
Q: What motivates you to draw?
A: “If I watch something like a show or If I see someone’s art online I will probably get motivated to draw something.”
Q: What is your favorite color/colors to use?
A: “Mainly with digital when shading a piece, purple is a great shading color as it goes with most of the colors.”
Q: Where is your style influenced from?
A: “ My art style definitely comes from old 2000’s media, I’m very inspired by art that comes from the early 2010’s.”
