On May 22, 2025, WTHS’s Environmental Club went to the Ocean City boardwalk to do their yearly spring beach clean-up. At the end of their beach clean-up, the Environmental Club collected about 1578 pieces of trash. Beach cleans like this are important and essential to help protect our marine environment, wildlife, and human health. Beach cleans help remove pollutants, that come from us that can harm marine life, impact the life of coastal ecosystems, and contaminate the water. You can also find cool items that people may have dropped or lost on the beach. If you would like to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation, participate in beach clean-ups in the future and/or join the Environmental Club. The WTHS environmental club even has their own part on the beach; you can see the sign yourself on 13th street at the Ocean City boardwalk. After the environmental club finished cleaning, they got to have free time on the boardwalk until it was time to leave. It’s a trip highly looked forward to every year by its members because of all the memories made on it.
