Varsity Boys Basketball Home Opener & Week 1 Results

Back-to-back losses to start the season, but what will come of Week 2?

In the home opener between Winslow and Cherokee HS, the game unfolded with a certain quiet intensity. Winslow’s efforts, led by players like Hajir Davis, Marcus White, and Ayomide Ogunsola, resulted in a combined 26 points, with the rest of the team making modest contributions. Resulting in a loss of 32-56.

The weekend home game against Absegami, on the other hand, showcased notable improvements with Hajir Davis leading the charge, scoring 27 points, and going 11/11 on free throws. Despite the commendable efforts of Winslow’s players such as Ayo’s 14 pts and 11 rebounds, Shaheem’s 5 pts and 4 rebounds, Jeallen’s 8 pts and 8 rebounds, Jekai’s 6 pts and 2 rebounds, Marcus with 5 pts, and many other contributions,  the game ended in a 66-77 loss.

These back-to-back losses underscore the challenges facing Winslow, indicating areas that need improvement. As they gear up for the upcoming match against Bishop Eustace, Winslow is confronted with the reality of work ahead to refine their strategy and bounce back from these setbacks. The losses serve as a sobering reminder of the team’s current standing and the need for a concerted effort to turn things around.

In week 2 Winslow will face Bishop Euastace (12/19/23 Home @5:15.p.m), Shawnee (12/21/23 Away @6:15.p.m), and Washington Township (12/22/23 Away @3:00.p.m). Stayed tuned for more!
