Winslow Township High School boys basketball had a very successful five game stretch picking up wins in all five match-ups. Winslow started their streak off by beating crosstown rival CCTS in dominant fashion, 98-60. Senior Kevin Satchell led the Eagles to victory with nineteen points and five rebounds, junior Emmanuel Harris also had himself a great game registering a double-double with fifteen points and thirteen rebounds.
In the second game of the streak, Winslow beat Collingswood 54-48, Junior Emannuel Harris continues to be a standout player for the Eagles as he recorded another double-double with fifteen points and fifteen rebounds. Senior Marcus Upton also ended up getting a double-double as well, he had ten points and ten assists on the night.
The third game of the streak was fairly special for this Eagles team as they picked up their second conference win of the season against the Shawnee Renegades 68-57. Senior Marcus Upton had a monster game as he recorded twenty-eight points, six rebounds, and ten assists to wield the Eagles to victory. He was simply automatic out there, it seemed like every shot was falling for him as he had four three-pointers made. Also when Upton drove to the basket, Shawnee had no choice but to foul him as he was simply just absorbing contact and converting his layups every single time. Senior Kevin Satchell had a nice moment where he saw an unoccupied paint and slammed home a dunk. Emmanuel Harris also continued his double-double streak with thirteen points and ten rebounds, he has really been a shining light for the Eagles this season.
The fourth game of the streak featured Winslow’s most impressive win of the season so far, as they took down the eighteenth ranked team in the state, Cherry Hill East. This game was a nail biter as the final score was 59-58. Senior Kevin Satchell led the way with a season high of twenty-one points followed by four rebounds and three assists, senior Kyree Henry also had a good game with thirteen points and six rebounds, and Marcus Upton led the team in assists with seven. Cherry Hill East came to play as four out of five of their starters had double digit points. This win was definitely a special one for first year head coach Art Smith. It shows that Winslow can seriously contend come playoff time.
Winslow took its fifth win of the streak by handedly beating Bridgeton 77-62. Senior Marcus Upton got back to his scoring ways as he led the Eagles with twenty-three points and seven assists. Emmanuel Harris also showed out, having sixteen points and nine rebounds, and junior Jayden Driver had fourteen points.
Standout Players from these five games were Marcus Upton, Emmanuel Harris and Kevin Satchell; their performances were special. The last five games for this Eagles team has proved a lot. It shows they can win against high level competition and it also shows overall team strength as everybody is a key factor for getting wins. Every game somebody different steps up and delivers, which is a very good formula for playing and winning basketball.
