October Athlete of the Month Interview: Leila Quatorze

October’s Student of the Month is Leila Quatorze, Winslow Township High School’s Co of 2024 Senior Class President. Leila is a positive Captain, leader and role model for her team.

Octobers Athlete of the month Q&A 

 

 

  • What sport do you play? (Varsity ? Captain ?) 

Leila Q:

 ” I play 2nd singles varsity on the Winslow township tennis team. And I am the varsity captain. ” 

  • How long? (How would you say you improved since you started )

Leila Q:

” The most improvement I saw is from the end of sophomore year to know. Because, I started making tennis my priority. ” 

  • What is your favorite part about this sport? 

Leila Q:

” My favorite part of this sport is the social aspect and seeing myself get better. “

  • What is your technique for memorizing plays and or moves ?or techniques 

Leila Q:

” My technique is a lot of practice since tennis is muscle memory and attending clinics. “

  • How will you develop your performance moving forward ?

Leila Q:

” Moving forward I am going to play a lot more and meet new people to practice with. “

  • Where do you see this going? (Play for a College? Or just a fun extracurricular activity 

Leila Q:

” During college I plan to play club tennis competitively. “

  • How do you feel to be (the month) October’s Athlete of the Month?

Leila Q:

 ” I was so shocked when I found out I was athlete of the month. I came in expecting something was wrong but I found out I was doing everything right. “

  • Did you have any injuries or any issues or obstacles that you had to overcome to compete?

Leila Q:

” Freshman year I got a concussion while playing that stopped me from playing for almost a year. However I have managed to use it as a learning experience and have grown my confidence and skills since then. ” 

  • Where did your passion for this sport come from? 

Leila Q:

” My passion came when I started playing the sport and watching other people play and seeing how fun it is. I was always interested in the sport and the beginning of highschool seemed like a place to start. “
